Sponsorship

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

YOU BET THIS IS THE LOONIEST ELECTION SPONSORSHIP DEAL EVER!

BOOKMAKERS William Hill have announced that they will be sponsoring one of the country's best loved political parties during the General Election.

William Hill Sponsorship Deal
Bookies back country's craziest political Party

The Official Monster Raving Loony Party, founded over a quarter of a century ago in 1982, by the late Screaming Lord Sutch, will be renamed as the Monster Raving Loony William Hill Party as part of a unique sponsorship deal which offerd every candidate the opportunity to win back their £500 deposit by placing a bet on the number of votes they poll.

The Party is set to field a record number of candidates, with Party Leader, Alan Hope, confident that they will have up to fifty eccentric representatives standing for office.

However, no member of the Loony Party has ever managed to retain a deposit, let alone be elected, and Lord Sutch was always adamant that if a candidate did manage to win a seat in Parliament he would be drummed out of the Party!

'We believe that Parties like the Loony Party are an essential part of British democracy and eccentricity and that the world would be a poorer place if there was no room in politics for a little harmless levity' said William Hill Media Relations Director, Graham Sharpe. 'We have agreed a substantial sponsorship deal with the Party which includes a change of name during the General Election campaign to reflect our involvement with them, so they will become the Monster Raving Loony William Hill Party. We are also giving every candidate a free bet on how many votes he or she will get, giving them the opportunity of winning £500 - the cost of a deposit to stand.''

Hills sponsored Screaming Lord Sutch - who stood unsuccessfully for Election to Parliament on a record 41 occasions and died in 1999 - as an individual on many occasions but this is believed to be the first time any political Party has secured a name-related sponsorship deal.
